Freedom

No society wants you to become wise. If people are wise, they cannot be exploited. And if they are intelligent, they cannot be subjugated, they cannot be forced to live a mechanical life, to live like robots, because they will assert their individuality. They will have and will always show around them the scent of rebellion. In other words, they will want to live in freedom. 

Freedom comes with the wisdom that is intrinsic. These two are inseparable, therefore no society wants people to be free. Communist society, fascist society, capitalist society, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, etc., all these societies would not want people to use their own intelligence because from that moment on they become dangerous, dangerous for the System, dangerous for the people in power, dangerous for those who have, dangerous for all forms of oppression, exploitation, suppression, dangerous for churches, dangerous for states, dangerous for nations. 

A wise man is "on fire", he is alive, on fire. He cannot sell his life, he cannot serve those who want power and control. He would rather die than be enslaved.
